Under cloudless sides Life Church elected to bat in the season closer. Seven changeswere made from the side that were humiliated not two weeks before by the same opposition.
A well paced 30 not out from returning Shahid Salim held the innings together but Life Church were bowled out for just 89 with what turned out to be 12 vital balls to spare.
Defending such a small total would be a tall order but, after a shaky start, the Burnley-based side went out their business well. Thomas Blackedge surprised everyone with 5-2-11-3 in his first game of the season! Matt Brunton 4-1-11-1and particularly Jonny Foster 4.3-3-6-1 kept it tight at the end but simply did not have enough runs to play with.
The Mission got home with 9 balls to spare and despite 2 close games Life Church ended the 2009 season without a win from their 4 matches.
Life Church Man of the Match: Shahid Salim for an excellent all round performance. Intelligent batting for his unbeaten 30 and economical bowling to return 5-1-6-0.
